Heat

Post by vaughan.mcd » Sun Jul 21, 2019 10:49 pm

HI does anyone know how safe it is to install a EtherMega in a control box in a ceiling / roof space.

I've had one installed for about 1 year with no problems.
But the roof can reach temperatures of 50 degrees and just want to make sure this is safe.

I've run one on a 41 degree day (but it had air flow), and as long as yours has good air flow, I assume it will be OK. Just makes sure it's not near any ignition sources.
What about running a thermally controlled fan just in case?

This one is mounted in an enclosure with ventilation holes, and the enclosure in in the roof space.
See photos.

IMHO, I think it looks fine.

I'd still go with a thermally controlled fan, just for completeness.

It looks neat.

What's the purpose?

Ok cool thanks for you help.

Its a home automation I/O box that everything connects to. I have one in roof and one in a security cupboard and they are controlled by Homeseer
