Ok here goes i have decided to dive in head first into the world of arduino, except I cant even workout the colour codes on a flippin resistor, now my question is is there anywhere in sydney that i can go to learn how to at least use and eventually make my own electronic projects?

There's the Sydney Hackerspace, aka Robots & Dinosaurs, which might be a good place to start.

They're right opposite Meadowbank station: http://robodino.org/
