Freetronics at Mini Maker Faire Melbourne on Saturday

Just in case you don't know what a Maker Faire is all about, here's some background:

http://www.makerfaire.com

Now at last Maker Faire is coming to Melbourne, organised by PaulZ from Connected Community Hackerspace (http://www.hackmelbourne.org) and his team of enthusiastic helpers!

This Saturday a huge crowd will descend on Swinburne Uni in Hawthorn for a day of cool DIY stuff, including plenty of hardware hacking. Marc and I will be there with a Freetronics stand, and even Make themselves will have an official display. It's going to be HUGE! Check out the coverage in The Age and SMH today:

So, if you're coming along please make sure you introduce yourself to Marc and I at the Freetronics stand.

Guys,

what a great day the Maker Faire turned out to be! The place was packed.

My youngest daughter (12) had great fun learning to solder and making Lego poetry, while the older daughter got to play with the robogals and make a freetronics kit-ten. Special thanks to Marc for his soldering tips for my daughter and the time chatting. I hope everyone else had as good as day as me and my family.

Thanks Dave, I'm glad you and your daughter enjoyed it!

Also, a general apology to forum posters at the moment: Marc and I have been totally jammed up with preparation for Maker Faire and now with www.linux.conf.au and the Arduino Miniconf, which we're both attending in Ballarat.

This has been an insane few weeks and right now we're at a venue with very few opportunities to sit down with a laptop and get online, so we've got further behind than normal. If we haven't replied to posts on the forum it's not because we don't care: it's because we're sleep-deprived, connectivity-challenged, and there are 15 people trying to talk to us simultaneously in real life!
