unable to re program USBDroid with ATMega328p

Members.
This is the error message I receive when I try to re program the board. :
Arduino: 1.8.5 (Windows 10), Board: "Arduino/Genuino Mega or Mega 2560, ATmega2560 (Mega 2560)"

An error occurred while uploading the sketch

This report would have more information with
"Show verbose output during compilation"
option enabled in File -> Preferences.
Burn bootloader: "error while burning bootloader"
Software and drivers: all up to date
Programing via usb supplied cable
Current program on chip: The program is a logger for SD card logging data for 3 variable pots. The program is still active and working properly as per the programming.
Problem: I am unable to reprogram the chip :?:

Did anybody in this forum experience the same error before? How did you fix it?
