Delving into the realm of home automation with Arduino and Raspberry Pi

Post by keiranwyllie » Thu Sep 08, 2016 10:17 am

Not sure whether this part of the forum gets used a lot but I thought I'd post anyway.

After doing a lot of testing and design work, I've started to begin my install. At the moment I only have the pool control cabled in (operated lights, fountains and spa) but that's shown in the pics yet.

I will be mounting another two 8 channel relays adjacent to the current ones and a POE injector on the bottom left (under the phone line panel - which I'm planning to move anyway).

I was originally using the webserver library on the EtherTens however I'm now running the main web server off a Raspberry Pi (serving up an LCARS interface) to control everything. I will also be replacing some light switches throughout the house.

Very slow at the moment but here's some more pictures. I'm now working on using MQTT within my setup. Having never used it before, it's a good learning curve but seems pretty simple (sort of lol).

Last few for now. I've recently just added some small voltmeters to the power supply to monitor voltage to the 5V and 12V rails below it.

What tactile switches are you using for your light switch plates? I've seen the PB6149L tact switches, but am having a hard time getting them ordered. Can you provide a link to the store that you purchased them thru, please?

Thanks!

Sure thing. They're from Jaycar. Here's the link - https://www.jaycar.com.au/spst-pcb-moun ... e/p/SP0614
