Stepduino connection to IDE?

Post by JohnB_Melb » Thu Jan 14, 2016 12:03 am

Hi, I bought a Stepduino the other day, plugged it in to the Mac, booted up the latest Arduino IDE and can't see a modem connection.

Tried an earlier Freetronics board and all is good.

I've tried using just the 5volt supply via microUSB as well as the 12 volt connection.
The LCD lights up (no cursor or text on the LCD), leds on the pcb illuminate, but I just don't get the USB connection appear.

Any clues ?

Arduino (etc) sometimes have issues with USB 3, if you can try a USB 2 socket (you may need to use a hub).
Next, if you haven't already done so, please try another USB cable - and check the board type is set to Arduino/Genuino Uno in the IDE's Tools menu.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your reply.

I've been using USB2. Did try a different micro USB cable (a few of them) direct connections and via hub.
No joy with the Stepduino, but one of the other boards (using mini USB) works fine and the connection appears almost immediately I plug in.

Is there another setting (programmer type ?) which is likely to affect ?

Jumpers on the Stepduino, or anything, or do you think it might be DOA?

Cheers

Sounds like you may have a faulty unit. If it was purchased from Jaycar they can exchange it for you, otherwise please email support@freetronics.com.
