I took out a domain for the etherten unit.

The EtherTen combines an Uno-equivalent Arduino-compatible board and Wiznet-based Ethernet support, along with a microSD card slot and Power-over-Ethernet support. [Product page]

Very nice! Now if only we could write a forum system to run on an EtherTen (or even an EtherMega) we'd be all sorted ;-)

I agree but i'm really starting to suspect the wiznet is just not up to the job, even for doing very little once a day :( but yeah a low cost webserver wold be wonderful, but we might have to rely on something like the Rasberry Pi for such a task.

Personally I think that something like a combination of Raspberry Pi and Arduino will allow some very interesting things: mashing the two together (so the Arduino acts as a smart peripheral for the Raspberry Pi to offload I/O to) would be very useful. Andy Gelme (@geekscape) just received 3 Raspberry Pis and we were talking about some interesting mash-up scenarios just today.
