Thanks John. I can confirm that the EtherTen runs *much* cooler at 12V with a PR28V PoE regulator attached.

I have been working on an IoT project that uses the Etherten (W5100 Ethernet chip) but I've noticed hat it heats up to extremely hot ...

You can also power it directly with the 5-volt controller at the large 5 volt power supply of those PSUs around.
