Need assistance with H Bridge motor shield

Post by daniel » Mon Apr 27, 2015 7:09 am

I connected 2 DC motors to the motor shield and was testing different arduino sketches. Once while testing, the moment I plugged in the battery, my laptop shut down, this happened the next time I tested it. Now, with a different computer, I cant get the same sketch to work(it worked previously). The shield's blue led is on and the program runs but the motor's are not responding. How do I check to see if my motor shield is still functional?

If you have a multimeter, set it to volts.
Then connect the shield to the Arduino and computer via PCB, fit the "Bridge VIN To Motor Power" jumper and run the demo sketch. Measure the voltage at the motor outputs. If there isn't anything there then you may have damaged the shield.
Finally never add or remove wiring such as power etc., while things are plugged into a PC.
