Notification Cube

Post by CodeMusic » Fri Jan 22, 2016 3:25 pm

Hi there,
I am so excited to received and build my cube!!
One idea I have is to have my cube as a notification cube,
so if an email comes to my computer I see a specific animation,
and different things for different triggers.

To accomplish this, will I be able to send signals via the USB,
or for this type of communication will I require a Wifi interface?

I get the impression,
the firmware I upload would need wifi to receive these various triggers, however, maybe this is not the case.

I also saw there was a command com interface,
so maybe I could write a C# .Net application which interfaces this way with the cube.

For those Cubers out there,
are you aware if I would require a wifi module, or if you think I can accomplish something like this just with the kit itself.

Thanks Guys,
Very excited to get coding with my cube!!!

Chris

You can control your Cube using serila text commands via USB or hardware serial.
So your C# .Net application application running on a host computer could retrieve data from external sources and then control the Cube.
You could also add wifi modules such as an ESP8266 if so inclined, and it could communicate with the Cube.
