Actually there is a process to install unsigned .inf files on Windows 8.
First hit Windows Key, type "Advanced Startup Options" and click Settings. Then click General and Advanced Startup. It will start the process of restarting your system. Select the option for Advanced Startup Options and when your computer finally restarts, select the number for “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement”. When you have gotten back into your computer, go into Device Manager and update the driver for your device (Browse to the inf file). It will show a warning, but you can finally install the .inf.
