Arduino Due for large display

I've build a 64x16 display in a 2x1 DMD arrangement, using an Arduino Mega and the DMD2 library.

I'm looking to build a bigger display, at least 4x2 DMDs (128x32) but ideally 5x4 (160x64). However, I've read the various threads about the Arduinos not being able to handle that many panels.

Has anyone successfully used the Arduino Due with the DMD panels and DMD2 library?

I'm wondering if the Due with it's ARM processors is the solution to controlling a larger number of modules?
