Power Supply For 3 DMD Series Circuit

Hey All,

Wondering if the following 5v 40amp power supply will be suitable for extra bright output of 3 DMDs wired in series? Any dangers in using this high of amperage?

Thanks

The spec looks good. Or you could choose one with a lower amperage rating (nearer to but still higher than what you need) if that helps lower the cost.

The amperage rating is the maximum it can supply - what you power from it will only use what it uses. If your project uses 7.3A it will use 7.3A on a 40A or 12A or 1000A supply. So long as the supply does what it says, this one should allow you future upgrades.

Cheers ! Geoff

Thanks for the prompt reply Geoff,

I was using a 5v 4amp supply to power all 3 and it was running well, but last night has lost amperage and doesn't display very bright.

Looks like I fried a $100 supply...doh...
