Multiple Marquee running simultaneously

Post by urbantigerau » Thu Feb 27, 2014 10:00 am

Hi, Does anyone know how to run parallel Marquee? My DMD array is 2x2 and working just fine. However it seems to be possible to run only Marquee at a time. I want to run one on the top displays and another with difference content on the bottom. Any suggestions please? Regards, Fred.

Hi urbantigerau,

The short answer is that you can't.

In order to achieve what you are looking for, you will have to significantly modify the DMD library.
It's certainly technically possible, but is not a trivial task.

Have you considered splitting the unit into 2 set of 2 DMDs each with their own Arduino? They're cheap!. Not the most efficient solution, but it may be a lot easier and quicker than rewriting dmd.drawMarquee() and dmd.stepMarquee() (and most of the functions they call). It really depends on what you want to achieve with your project.
