Passive PoE for EtherMega

Post by grendell » Fri Sep 01, 2017 4:42 pm

Hi,
I am intending to power the EtherMega from a remote 9v supply using a passive power injector with pins 1&2 and 3&4 of the PoE connector linked .
I assume the voltage will be available at the VIN pin (less a diode drop).
My question is what is the current rating of the diodes in the RJ45 socket? I am looking to power a SIM900 GPS module from the raw VIN and may need an average of 500 - 600mA into it's on board reg.
regards
G
