LCD not working correctly - Need data sheet

The LCD and Keypad Shield gives you a handy 16-character by 2-line display, 5 buttons and a controllable backlight.

LCD not working correctly - Need data sheet

Post by NW27 » Tue Jan 21, 2014 11:45 am

Hi,
I've written some code using a different compiler (It is not Arduino code) and I'm having some issues with the displaying of text. The compiler has built in support for the 44780 LCD but I think this one is a bit different.
The issue is that the text does not start at 0,0 but start at 2,0 (2 blanks and then the text). After a reset, the upper line is drawn at 4,0. (4 blanks and then the text) etc until the text scrolls of the screen and I'm left with a blank screen.
The same happens for the second line.

This is how it should look -
================
NWE A5
Ver3
================

How it does look
Sample screen layout. ~ = Space
================
~~NWE A5
~~Ver3
================
After Reset
================
~~~~NWE A5
~~~~Ver3
================

After Power Cycle
================
~~NWE A5
~~Ver3
================

Can you please tell me where I can get the datasheet for these displays and find out exactly what controller is used and it's programming requirements.

Thank you,
Neil.

The LCD modules sourced for the keypad shield are a generic "HD44780-compatible" which is a KS0066. Here's a link to the Samsung datasheet:

What compiler are you using?

Cheers
