[Solved] Arduino mega 2560 and LCD shield not working

The LCD and Keypad Shield gives you a handy 16-character by 2-line display, 5 buttons and a controllable backlight.

[Solved] Arduino mega 2560 and LCD shield not working

Post by ingamal » Sat Jun 15, 2013 2:14 am

Hi,

I have a new LCD screen. When I plug it in to my Arduino mega 2560 it only displays the top row with filled squares and the bottom is empty. On the quickstart quide it says this is a power problem, but other power options make no difference and there is a good 5v at the 5v pin. I have tried a range of programs including those with
'LiquidCrystal lcd(8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 7);' ie viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2031#p4650
But the most response I get is a slow alternation in the back light brightness.
I returned the first unit to Jaycar and got a replacement to no avail.
The mega runs other applications OK
Any advice would be appreciated greatly appreciated.
