Enclosure

The LCD and Keypad Shield gives you a handy 16-character by 2-line display, 5 buttons and a controllable backlight.

Can you recommend an enclosure that accomodates the LCD as well as the buttons?

This is one of the enclosures I was using, basically it needed to be self contained as well as rugged and waterproof. The yellow box is a Pelican 1040 and the internal black box is from Jaycar, http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=hb6082 turned upside down. You will need to cut and drill holes for the buttons, screen etc.

I'm now making my own from composites.

What have you been using to cut the hole out for the screen?

Cover with masking tape or a sticky label then mark it all out.

Center punch and drill a hole in each corner, cut between the holes with a hacksaw blade or dremel with cut off wheel. All between but as close as possible to the lines. When finished file it out to the lines and square the corners.

I have a hand nibbler around somewhere which might work as well if I could find it.

I get this is now a bit old, but I too am looking for an enclosure that will fit the lot. I see Jaycar are still selling the black box (http://www.jaycar.com.au/Enclosures-%26 ... K/p/HB6082) in question, but what about the buttons, what did you cover them with? Does anyone have any examples of what they used?
