Re: Split screen marquee/scroll

I think you can achieve what you are after by using the DMD2 library - have a play with that one. I have not done a lot with that so can't really help with that.
There is no mod to the DMD library that will do it for you as far as I am aware, but it would certainly be possible to do it.

Re: Split screen marquee/scroll

Did you try your setup with the standard unmodified DMD library using some of the supplied examples? If that works, then there is a problem with the changes. If it still does not work there is probably a problem with your sketch or your hardware setup. Are you using a Uno? If you are still having pr...

Re: Countdown in the center of DMD

Not very familiar with the DMD2 library, but doesn't the TextBox allow you set the vertical position? Would that work for you?
You can then read the height of the font and the display then work out where to place the text box.

Re: How to display the degree icon

It is best to rename your modified font to avoid any confusion as well as adding plenty of comments in the file to show what you have done and why - remember that you can never have too many comments. To rename the font you need to do 3 things: (demo here will use "MY_Droid_Sans_12" for the new name...

There is quite a bit of information on how these fonts work on this forum. You might find this thread a helpful starting point.

Re: How to display the degree icon

The Droid_Sans_12 font that you are using only defines characters within the range 32-127 (decimal). I'm not aware of any that do define the full extended character set - they might be out there but they would take up a lot of memory space. Might be best to find another solution. Rather than going t...

Re: How to display the degree icon

Not sure if this helps, but the degree symbol is part of the extended character set (127-255) so may not be available in the font you are using.
And I think the degree symbol is 176 decimal, not 247.
No idea on the brightness issue as I have not yet had a need to play with the OLED display.

Re: Intergrated Shiftlight in a BA Falcon tacho guage

Have you considered accessing the CAN bus directly? The information you need is obviously available there if the tacho is driven that way. There are plenty of resources available to help you with access and this might be a tidier solution. Asking for both hardware and software design for your basic ...

Re: DMD scrolling Speed control

Scrolling speed is determined by how often you step the marquee. If you are using the original DMD library this is done by dmd.stepMarquee(), or for DMD2 it is dmd.marqueeScrollX(), which you execute within a timed loop. So all you need to do is adjust the timing of the loop to alter scrolling speed.

Re: why so many pins for 32x16 DMD?

The SPI interface requires the 3 lines: - PIN_DMD_CLK - PIN_DMD_SCLK - PIN_DMD_R_DATA There is plenty of resources available which explain how this interface works. The DMD is arranged in 4 blocks and the 2 lines: - PIN_DMD_A - PIN_DMD_B are used to select which 1 of the 4 is currently active. And f...
