You will need to write an interface for network data. That's not hard to do. Plenty of examples around. You can simply use a client server interface sending data to a plain text window.
On the other hand some people find a web interface better to work with.

I have been using these two boards now for a number of weeks and I'm happy with the purchase. The programmer interface is on a separate smaller board, which according to the manufacturer "saves costs" but for the price I paid, I did'nt care about buying the extra programmer board. Yes, I came across those. However the ebay chap seems ok. Qty 2 just squeezed in below AU$100 and I'm happy with the deal. I'll let you folks know how they turn out.

I'm not sure why you're finding it so hard to get M3 plastic screws as a small quantity. Lots of industrial supply stores sell them.
