Are you sure you have selected the correct power option when trying to use the DC input? You need to connect the 5V rail to the specific power input whether it be the DC input or USB input.

Hi Jon, I have the same problem where the 5V regulator has fried and only works through the USB input. Have been trying to deduce the problem and have read some of the comment that you have written such as the negative input on the Vin pin but this doesn't seem to be the root of the problem. DC input barrel failure
Hi everyone,
Having some issues with the EtherMega board in which the DC input barrel fails and can no longer be used to power the rest of the board. The board still functions, however when plugged into the USB port. Has anybody experienced this? Have any reason for its failure?
