My attempt at making a light switch

Here's my prototype... IMG_0164.JPG All of the real credit for my project goes to keiranwyllie and Jon Oxer... their projects have inspired me to make my own light switches. This is WAY overkill, but I wanted to make my switches modular. So, here's how this will work... My EtherTen (yeah, not gonna ...

Re: Delving into the realm of home automation with Arduino and Raspberry Pi

So, single-click to turn on, double-click to turn off? I like the concept. I can't see how you will get four switches on that prototyping board, with the leads for the NodeMCU sticking through... I'm considering building a daughter board concept. I'll use IDC cables (10 pin) to connect two boards. O...

Re: Delving into the realm of home automation with Arduino and Raspberry Pi

Have you considered using an Arduino as Jon Oxer did for his home? Just have it publish your button pushes to your MQTT broker. Broker could be running on the Pi as well as running your server and or logic. I'm running an old laptop with Debian, OpenHAB, and Mosquitto. All of my sensors are publishi...

Re: Delving into the realm of home automation with Arduino and Raspberry Pi

Any updates? As I mentioned before, I'm very interested in your progress on your light switches. I've been using MQTT for sensor data for some time now. I'm about to put together some crude switches for turning my lights on and off (sans the Jaycar illuminated switches). I'm using OpenHAB for my aut...

Re: Delving into the realm of home automation with Arduino and Raspberry Pi

What tactile switches are you using for your light switch plates? I've seen the PB6149L tact switches, but am having a hard time getting them ordered. Can you provide a link to the store that you purchased them thru, please?

Thanks!
