Death of our forum?

Is our once great forum on its way out? Is Freetronics in difficulties? From a quick look, only 1 of the 7 listed admin team members has been active in the last few months, with most inactive for over 12 months. This may account for the complete lack of control of the spam. More and more spam - fewe...

Re: dmd daisi chaining

cobble, There is a lot of information on these subjects on this forum. Try starting here for some DMD basics, but have a good look around. There is a practical limit on how many DMDs you can drive with a single Uno - and it is a lot less than 8!! Also depends on what else you want you CPU to do. Bet...

Re: How Scroll Down in DMD

ir.vean,
Have a look at dmd.stepMarquee(x,y). The 'x' & 'y' arguments control the scroll direction. Try using dmd.stepMarquee(0,-1).

Re: dmd connector board

G'day Stryker, That resistor is only useful when the OE line is not active (driven either high or low). The only time this would normally occur is during powerup or a reset when the DMD has power applied but the Arduino has not yet had time to set the appropriate pin to an output. The Arduino pins s...

Re: dmd connector board

You don't really need the DMDCON board. It does provide a convenient way to interconnect the cable supplied with a DMD to a Uno, but it does nothing other than provide those connections. You can simply cable the DMD to the Uno directly without using the board. The latest version of the DMDCON also i...

Re: Extra Lines of LEDs when displaying numbers

Because you only clear the screen in 'Case 0:' in your switch statement in drawSecond(). You are left with a bit of whatever was there before in the other cases.

pravin,
Have a look at this thread this thread. It gives a bit of detail on the DMD and may help you out.

Re: DMD with IRREMOTE library not work good

statbat, I suspect that the combination of the DMD interrupt and the IR interrupt might be taking too much time. That is why I suggested reducing the number of DMDs set up in your sketch. A Uno can only safely handle about 5 or 6 DMDs (depending on what else your sketch is doing), and now you have t...

Re: DMD with IRREMOTE library not work good

statbat, I have not done much with the DMD2 library except for an initial play some time ago so I cannot help you there. I have used the earlier library and have made numerous mods to it to achieve what I wanted it to do. One thing that might be an issue is the number of DMDs you are trying to use, ...

Re: Safety for the DMD Display circuit

statbat, That will depend on how you have set up the MOSFET circuitry. If it is as a switch in series with the power supply then you have double-barrel protection to some extent; if it is as crowbar protection (across the power rails) then definitely NOT good. And circuit breakers are generally much...
