OK - so here's how I solved this ... pretty easy actually ! I simply put the images on the SD card, loaded them through the module, and wrote back via serial the data that the FTOLED will be happy with. Then I just copied and pasted this data in an "h" file mimicking the "sprite" example ... works l...

OK ... so I've created simple 16 colour bmp files (32x34 pixels) using each of the 3 different alternatives: GIMP + ImageMagick + Paint I've got Python 3.0 running and have attempted to use bin2header.py. Giant Fonts, Limited Character set (small files for micros)

Giant fonts take up a lot of space. In the wiki for FTOLED there is a note at the bottom of the page about creating larger fonts (see https://github.com/freetronics/FTOLED/wiki/Displaying-Text ). It isn't clear however, how to make a font with just a few characters. The answer wasn't obvious to Mr G...

ESP8266 (ESP-201) Working perfectly direct to OLED (hardware SPI)

Hi All, After a lot of fooling around, I have managed to get OLED 128x128 running perfectly directly on an ESP-201 (ESP8266) using hardware SPI. It runs very very fast - successfully at 20MhZ. Love my DMD. Works perfectly with my Eleven. Challenging getting it to work with the Leostick. So far, my guesses are related to the SPI, which is on the ICSP header.
