Re: Generator Monitor

Thanks Jon, I'm rather stoked... I can't remember the last time I actually won something :) albeit entering does improve the odds a little  One final pick of the unit installed: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7Y1KYu-_xCE/TubEr1JueZI/AAAAAAAAAcI/c5jPXOTCj8A/s1600/photo.JPG I look forward to the next ...

Re: Generator Monitor

I believe most fixed (modern) generator installations can cater for an 'engine run' relay, it probably comes down to how well you get along with the Tech's who maintain it for you. In my case I have major service in the next few days and the tech is happy to configure and connect the relays... as lo...

Re: Generator Monitor

The contraversy is simply the childrens perception of it... they already complain about the viewing limitations that have been implemented to cater for the youngest without mum or dad's intervention ;) The biggest issue is how much stuff is broadcast without full classifications :/ The idea was to c...

Re: Generator Monitor

Sweet :) just ordered a couple. One for this project, one for the highly contraversial 'Early Morning TV volume control' to be implemented to prevent the kiddies from waking me up in the morning ;)

Re: Generator Monitor

Any update on the sound sensor John ? Happy to 'test' it for you ;)

I've been delayed in my prototype - home rennovations... <sigh>. Hope to see you at LCA!

Re: LEGO sorting device

Awesome idea. As with Jon I have boxes full of unsorted lego (courtesy of 3 children).

I'd be interested to see how you get the arduino to sort accordingly.

Re: Generator Monitor

You never fail to amuse Jon. This looks like a great little module and I'll happily test it for you ;) I'll continue with the prototype for now as there is a scheduled power outage in the next couple of weeks -- a chance to test the system in a real usage scenario. However as your developing a modul...

Re: Generator Monitor

Thanks :) I'm still finalising the electret interface and hope to solder up a prototype tonight. My plan is to use a suitable op-amp as a non inverting amplifier to amplify the small signal from the electret, and a comparator to toggle the 5v supply to a pin on the arduino when the preset threshold ...

Generator Monitor

This is possibly as simple as an arduino project can get. I have an emergency generator at work which works well, automatically starting on power outages etc. The problem is that the generator is on level 27 of the building, and access during a power outage requires a trip to the sub basement to get...
